SEARCH FOR A MISSING MAN.

The search for the missing man, Donald McLean, at Haomer Springs, has been abandoned for the present, there being no hope of finding him alive. Constables Bird, of Culverden, Lewin of Amberley and Smithera of Kaiapoi. who had been conducting the search with the assistance of a number of volunteer?, returned to their stations yesterday. Constable Bird, who had been out for a week, suffered some rough experiences. He was joined by other constables on Friday, and there was no lack of volunteers for the work. The cold was intense and when one member of the party fell into a river his clothes were frozen hard on him. The snow has been rapidly melting, and if there is no further fall there will be better prospects of finding iraces of McLean.
