THE RANGITIKEI SEAT.
By Telegraph —Press Association. GREY MOUTH, August 24. The Speaker of the Housa of Representatives, Mr A. R. Guiness, hao ing received official notification the death of Mr A. E. Remington, M.P. for Kangitikei, has signed the declaration and returned it. sj that it-will duly appear in this week's Government Gazette He will, sub sequent to the publication, forward his warrant to the Clerk of Writs t>s soon as the Gazette reaches him at Greymouth, which will probably be not later than tc-morrow week, when the writ wi 1 be issued, and the election be held during the month of September, sa that the member elected will be able to take his ssat at the opening of the session.
OPPOSITION PARTY CONFERENCE. By T^la^raph—Priss Association. FEILDING, August 24. Messrs E. Newman, M.P., and D. H. Guthrie, M.P., went up to Huiterville yesterday afternoon to attend an Opposition party conference concerning the Rangitikei seat, in Mr Hockly's favour.
