Advices received from Carolina Island state that the American Mission vessel Hiram Bingham capsized in a squill at Jaluit (chief town in the Marshall Islands, a group in the Western Pacific annexed by Germany in 1S85). '
Tne passengers and crew, numbering about 20, escaped in boats, and drifted for jnany days. They endured great privations, and eventually reached Ebon Island, in the Marshall Group, in a shocking condition. One of the passengers, Rev. Walkup, a well-known missionary, succumbed a few hours after landing. The others are recovering.
