NEW ZEALAND LADIES' TOURNAMENT.

,By Telegraph—Special to the Age. NAPIER, August 23. The New Zealand Championship Ladies' Hockey Tournament was resumed at Hastings to-day. The following are the results:—' HAWKES' BAY B (3) v. WANGANUI (2). This was a fair game. WAIRARAPA A (4) v. HOROWHENUA (nil).

This was a good game. Ac the commencement Horowhenua held their own well, defending strongly, and gaining ground by good forward rushes. After give and take play for a time Miss Z. Humphries at last, as the result of a fine dribbling run and some good passing, found the net for Wairarapa. In the Bectmd half the Wairarapa forwards warmed up to their and kept Horowhsnua very busy defending. Thrice more, however, did Wairarapa saccede in penetrating the Horowhenua defence, Misses Z. Humphries (2) P. Ashton, and K. O'Leary being responsible for thegoate. The Wairarapa team thus won by 4 goals to nil.

WELLINGTON (1) v. WAIRARAPA B (nil).

This, though not one of the best games of the afternoon, was one of the most evenly contested. The defence of both teams was good, and for some time it looked as though no score would be registered by either side. Eventually, however, Wellington scored a goal from a scramble, and though both teams tried hard no further score was made, Wellington thus heing returned ths winners by 1 goal to nil. HAWKES' BAY A (3) v.' AUCKLAND (nil). This was the best game of the day, if not of the tournament so far. The two teams were very evenly matched. NELSON (3) v. TARANAKI (I). Owing to the illness of one of. their players, and the absence of an emergency, Taranaki had to take the field with only ten players, and this proved too severe a handicap for them.
