At the Mart to-day an aged horse and bridle realised the sum of 6s, while another one with a bridle, but unshod, brought 2s 6d. The Ballance ' Dairy Company's creatnery at Makomako is now, in full swing, and it is anticipated that a larger milk suppply will be received this year. The creamery was closed down fur about a month, to allow of certain repairs to be effected, and a new separator has been put in, in consequence of a large number of cows being milked this suasion. Mr Acheson, formerly of the Wairarapa, who has been appointed manager of the Mangaramarama cheese factory, will v commence hia duties next week. During the past year the companj, which is a co-operative concern, paid out to the suppliers 12Jsd per lb of butter fat supplied, and also a bonus of 8 per cent, on the subscribed capital. The company has been established four years, and since its inception it has made remarkably good progress, and has been boon to the dairy farmers of
Mangaramarama. Mr P. Detiraceny, tin pm!ni-i.r of the Club Hotel, was entertained at a social last night. On behalf of the friends present Mr W. Tosswill presented Mr Debreceny with a case of silver mounted pipes, and referred in eulogistic terms to Mr Debreceny as a host andciti" 01 The guest of the evening was niso the recipient of a silver mounted cigar holder from Messrs Tosswill and Ulrich. The plant for the factory is on the ground, and it ia expected that the factory will be ready , for receiving milk in three weeks' time. A hockey *;eam from the Craven College (Girls) Palmerston North, played a match against Oete on the local ground this afternoon, and after an interesting game the match was won by the visitors by three goal? to one.
