A BETTER TONE.
It is very gratifying to learn from the Masterton Inspector of Factories (Mr J. Georgesnn) that there is a better tone in the labour market, and that business people generally are inclined to the opinion that trade is showing a tendency to improve. The passing winter has been very severe on many working people; indeed, there is reason to fear that in a good many Masterton homes there has been something approaching sericus poverty, but with the return of better times employment will be more plentiful, and the dull clouds of depression will gradually roll away. Mr Georgeson states that there is still a great deal more unemployment than one cares" to see, and he cannot say anything better than that there is an improved tone noticeable in the labour market.
