HOCKEY

WAIRARAPA v. MANAWATU.

The Wairarapa Senior hockey representatives met and defeated the Manawatu representatives on the Masterton Showgrounds, yeserday afternoon by 1 goal to nil.

The ground was against a good exposition of hockey, water lying on it in several places, In the first half the game was veiy even, and ended without any score being registered. In the second half play livened up somewhat, the most noticeable feature being the defensive work of L Morgan, the Wairarapa five-eighth, he saving his side time after time. After play had travelled up and down the field the Wairarapa forwards attacked, and from a scram ble in front of the visitors' net W. Fisher shot the only goal oi the day. The whistle went immediately afterwards. The teams were as follows:Manawatu (green and white): E. Mextcd; full-backs Walkly and Kersby; halves, Simmons, Moore and Anderson; forwards, Webb, Fitt, Crump (captain), Amos and Clear. Wairarapa (black and white): Fullbacks, G. Tunnicliffe, and J. Fisher (captain); five-eighth, S. Morgan; half-backs, N. Boyd, S. Sievers,'E. Eagle; forwards, A. J. Fisher, H. H. Reynolds, w. Fisher, E. Tunnicliffe, E. Reid. Mr O'Meara controlled the game.
