C Bates' •weather forecaste -.—Moderate to :atrong southerly winds changing by ■west to northerly are probable generally. Fair weather is probable northward of Hokitika and Oamaru. and changeable weather in the southernmost districts. An area of low -pressure is now advancing from the westward, and will probably cause very e, unsettled weather shortly to south A of New Plymouth and Napjler, the' lowest glass beng due between the ,'22 nd and 23rd. Mr J. C. Boddingtori reports that the rainfall registered at the Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Thursday was 28 points.
