THE WARATAH.
AN UNSUCCESSFUL SEARCH, uRUISERS RETURN TO PORT. United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph Copyright. Received August 18, 2.10 p.m. CAPETOWN.' August 17. The cruisers Hermes and Forte, which have been searching for the overdue liner Waratah, have returned to Simonstown without discovering anything of the steamer. STILL HOPEFUL. Received August 18, 10.20 p.m. LONDON, August 18. The "Standard" says that one hopeful view would seem to be that it would be impossible for a ship of the Waratah's size to go to pieces without a sign of wreckage. It is thought possible that the Paparoa may sight the Waratah. The owners of the vessel, who are still very hopeful that she will be found, report that there were about 220 persons on board the Waratah, including 100 passengers. The provisions were ample for two months on full menu. The captain of the Insizwa has wired to the owners of the Waratah that it is now doubtful whether he saw bodies in the sea, as it was too rough to investigate. i
