MASTERTON A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
MEETING OP GENERAL COMMITTEE. The first meeting of the newlyelected General Committee of theMasterton A. and P. Association was held on Saturday afternoon, when there were present:—Messrs G. C. Sounjmerell (chairman) VVm. Perry, H. Morrison, J. Straner, W. J. Welch, 0. C. Cooper, VV. Cooper, K. J. Dags, Q. Donald, R. Grjy, E. Harper, J. M. James, T. P. Let:, H. A. Matthews. A. D McMaster, A. J. Percy, J. E. Perry, J. P. Perry, Bland Kayner, G. Shaw, W. D. Watson, D. McGregor, jnr., and J. D. Cruickshank. Messrs Kummer, Buick and Vallance sent apologies for non-attendance.
An application from Mr J. E. Snell asking permission to remove a boiler and plant from the section leased from the Association was referred to the Ground Committee. The Auckland A. and P. Association notified that their Spring Show Would be held on November 26th and 27th.
The Woodville Jockey Club notified the Association of their application for the dates of February 23rd fur their Summer Meeting.
Messrs J. Strang, R. Gray, W. D. Watson, Q. Donald, R. J. Dagg and W. Perry, were appointed a committee to act in support of a memo, from the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association favouring the compilation of a list of North Island live stock judges drawn up by the various Associations.
The following . resignations were accepted:—Messrs J. L. Moody, Ponald McKenzie, A. Moody, S. R. Edwards H. C. Swan W. Harvey and E. W. Payton. It was decided to hold the next Show on February 15th and l(3th. Mr Perry said he thought that the Ground Committee should now take action in the matter of preparing Solway grounds. He suggested that the Ground Committee bring down a report at an early meeting.
It was decided to instruct the Ground Committee to this effect, the Committee to have in view the invitation from the public: of competitive designs for the laying out of the grounds.
On the motion of Mr D. McGregor it was decided that the following Committee form a deputation to wait upon the Minister of Railways in reference to the railway siding at Solway:—Messrs 0. C. Cooper, D. McGregor, Wm, Perry, W. E. Uidwill, H. Morrison, A. Donald, G C. Sumrnerell and J. B. Moodie, the members lor Masterton (Mr A. W. Hogg) and Wairarapa (Mr W. C. Buchanan), to be asked to co-operate.
Mr Hugh Morrison brought up the matter of the increasing the membership of the Association. He said that the list of members now stood at only about two hundred off u thousand, and he considered that it would be an excellent thing for the Association from a financial standpoint if it had a revunue of £I,OOO a year from its members alone. He .'suggested that some inducement be given members of the Association to procure new members, stating that he was willing to donate a gold medal to the member who secured the largest number of new members. Member.? approved ot the remarks of Mr Mormon on the subject, and after some discussion it was decided to circularise district representatives asking their co-opsration in a nu*member campaign.
