(From Our Resident Reporter). Friday. The annual meeting of the Pahiatua Racing Club will be held on August 31st, ;at 8 p.m. January 12th and 13th are the dtes fixedfor the CWs next race meeting. A charge of alleged theft of goods to the value of £1 16s from Mr A. Gannaway, was brought against a man named John McArthur, at the local Police Court yesterday afternoon. After hearing evidence the charge was dismissed. The Woodville Jockey Ciub purpose holding their autumn racing meeting in the last week of February. Heretofore, this week has been the Bush A. and P. Association's Show week, so now a fresh date will have to be arranged tor thaw. A meeting of the Show Committee .will be held in Woodville on Monday evening to deal with this matter. There is t.ilk of a Beautifying Association being formed m Pahiatua for the purpose of further beautifying the Borough Squares. The Pahiatua Central Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union contemplate making extensive experiments with oi' ciii : -.*nt kinds, for the o-. e.'it of farmers in this district. For some time past the children of St. Paul's Sunday School have been making small articles for distribution amongst children in India. .This evening the . articles made are to be on view in St.. Paul's Sunday Schoolroom, and a social evening is to be held. The children, who have been trained by Miss Mill, will render several songs. The boy, Oscar Stone, of Konin'\ who met with an accident on Wednesday last through a detonator exploding in his hands, is progressing favourably under treatment v at the hospital. The lad will lose two fingers and a thumb, but luckily the injuries to his face are not so severe as was at firsc anticipated. HOSPITAL TRUSTEES. The monthly meeting of the Hospital Trustees was held yesterday. The doctor's report wa3 very satisfactory, and no complaints were made during the month. There ara seven patients in the hospital, at present, four makss and three females, while thirteen had been discharged month and twelve admitted. Nurse Saltvvell was appointed to fill the position rendered vacant by the resignation of Nurse S'lellgrove. A letter w?s read from the Secretary Ol tha Fire Brigade regarding fire prevention at the hospital, a report of which appeared in this column snrne time ago. Accounts amounting to £ICI 8s 7rl . were passed for payment.
