LADIES' CHAMPIONSHIP CUP. The first competition for the Ladies' Golf Championship of New Zealand took place in 1893. The cup of that date was a challenge cup, and might be won outright by anyone with three wins to her credit. It was won in 1893 by Mrs Lrnnad Smith (Christchurch); in 1894 b; rs Wilder (Christchurch; 189, Mrs Mallaud (Otago); 1896, Miss L Wilford (The Hutt); 1897, Miss L. Wiiford (The Hutt); m 1898J1899 and 1900 by Miss K. Rattray, of the Otago Club, who thus became ' possessor of the cup. Mrs G. G. Stead, of Christchurch, then presented a very handsome cup ' to the New Zealand lady golfers—a : cup wh,ieh is a perpetual challenge cup, as it can never be won out- ' right. The following are the winers to date:—Miss G. S. Gillies, L ' Auckland, 1901; Miss W. G. bidb will, Wairarapa, 1902; Mrs A. E. a Peurce, Wellington, 1903; Miss j Hope Lewis (Mrs Guy Williams), \ Auckland, 1904; Miss A. Stepehensori, New Plvmcuth, 1905; Mrs Guy Williams, Masterton, 1907; Miss N. Christie, Oamaru, 1908. ' The Donneley Cup ia a handsome . challenge cup, presented to New Zea--3 land lady golfers by the late Mrs G. i P. Donnelly, of Napier. Like the ■ original Championship Cup, it may b be won outright by anyone who wins ' it three times in succession or four ' times at intervals. J.t was first played i for in Napier in 1905.
