HOCKEY.
SENIOR. DANNEVIRKE v. WAIRARAPA. (Special to tha Age). The Wairarapa Senior team, at present on tour, played their first match against the Dannevirke team on the Recreation Ground, Dannevirke yesterday. The game ended in favour of Wairarapa by 9 goals to 2. The game was very one-sided, Wairarapa outclassing their opponents in all departments. Neither team had their best eleven in the field, several Jur.iors playing. Goals were scored for Wairarapa by Tunnicliii'le (4), W. Pieher (2), Minett and Fairbrother, and for Dannsvifke by Prazer (2). In the visiting team Hatch, Boyd, Morgan and A. J.' Fisher weresthe most prominent, doing yeoman service for their side. The team were the guests of the Dannevirke Association during their stay there. Mr Bennett was referee. JUNIOR. WELLINGTON v. WAIRARAPA. Wairarapa Juniors played their first representative fixture at Masterton ''yesterday, when they suitered, defeat at the hands of the Wellington Juniors by 5 goals to 2 goals. The teams were:—Wellington: Goal, Grut; full-backs, Gayford, Morrahji halves, Gill; Campbell, Treadwell; forwards, Lynch, Wrigley, Oram j (captain), Francis, McKenzie. Wairapa: Goal, P. Church; full-backs, J W. Williams, G. Barr; halves, C. Cole (captain), N. Ellis, T. Byra; forwards, J. Berry, Dudson, L. Boyd, J. Cummins, A. Barry. The game was very fast, both forward lines being very strong. At half-time j the score was —Wairarana 2, Wei- \ lington 2. In the second spell Wei- J lington hit three more goals. The local forwards were frequently in the visitors' circle, but erratic shooting lost them more than one score. For J Wellington, McKenzie (3), Wrigley j and Lynch, scored goals, and for Wai- ; rarapa Cummins and Boyd. Mr! O'Meara was referee. A match was played on the Mastertun Showgrounds yesterday afternoon jetween a team representing the Ramblers Ladies' Hockey Club and the Kunini Ladies' Club (Forty Mile ( Bush). An uninteresting match resulted in a win for the Masterton team by one goal (scored by Miss Kyle, to nil. Mr J. Gray was referee. The visitors were entertained at tea after the match at the Arcadia Tea Rooms The Wnirarapa Ladies' A team defeated the Wairarapa Ladies' B team at Carterton yesterday by 3 goals to 2. Miss Easthope, of Masterton, scored the two goals for the B team. NEW ZEALAND LADIES' TOUR NAMHJNT. By Telegraph—Press Association. , NAPIER, August 12. The Secretary of the Hawke's Bay Hockey Association has received the following ten entries in the senior grade for the furthcoming Ladies' Championship Hockey Tournament, to be held in Napier and Hastings, commencing on 20th inst.:—Auckland, Taranaki, Wellington, Nelson, Horowhenua (one team each), Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay (two teams each). Owing to the smallness of the entries in the junior grade (three) it has been decided not to hold this competition.
