Mr A. lurnbull. S.M., died at Hawera yesterday monring. The deceased was 63 year.- of age.
Mr Walter Symes, ex-M.P. for Patea. has uurchased a 1,000 acre section at Kawa, Waikato, where he intends eventually to live. The Rev. Gordon Biddle, vicar nf Leeston, Canterbury, has been invited to fill the position of assistant priest at Hastings, vacated by the Rev. Kyall.
Lieutenant-Colonel Watt has announced his retirement from the command of the Wanganui battalion. His service in the volunteers extends over 43 years.
The friends of Mr and Mrs George Gray will be pleased to hear thai their son Joe, who underwent a serious operation at the Masterton Hospital on Monday last, is progressing favourably.
