The Government is pressing for New Zealand's reply to its request for the loan of Mr Kirk's services in connection with the potato disease. SEVERAL THOUSAND BAGS OF POTATOES CONDEMNED. Received August 9, 10.20 p.m. SYDNEY, August 9. The inspectors today .condemned several thousand bags of pitatocb whi.h were diseased. The Government will issue a proclamation on Wednesday prohibiting the impcrtaton of Tasmanian and Queensland potatoes owing to the Irish blight in those States. The price of Tasmanian redskins jumped to £9 in Sydney to-dsyr Some holders declined to do business at that figure.
