It may not be generally known that the greatest candlemaking establishment in the world is in England. It is that of Price's Patknt Candlk Company, Ltd., with two other large factories, one at Baltersea on the Thames, and the other on the Mersey, noxr Birkenhead, covering together thirty acres, and giving employment to about 2,200 people. The leading position held by the company is Bhown not merely by thr-ir having received the large number P f eighty-six awards at the principil International Exhibitions during the past half century, b'it especially by the un que fact that five of these are Grand Prix gained in the greatest candle-pro-ducing countries o' the European continent —namely, in Antwerp in 1891, Amsterdam in 1896, Brussels in 1897, and Paris in 1899 and 1900. Some of the company's specialties" are: Gold Medal Paliuitine, Grand Prize Parastrine Shade, and De;t Stearine Candle; Boyal Cistle, New Patent and Palmitine Star Night Lights; Begina, Glycerin Cream, nnd Court Toilet Soaps.
