FLOODS IN THE MANAWATU DISTRICT. By Telegraph—Press Association. PALMERSTON N., August 8. Heavy rains yesterday increased the floods in the various parfesj)f tha district between here and Foxton, where there is still a large amount of water lying. Dr. Findlay was unable to get through from Feilding to Foxton to open the Post Office, and had to return to Wellington. The Sandon-Feildmg road was rendered impassable by a large slip. The Makino and Mangaone rivers overflowed their banks. Snow fell yesterday in Feilding and Apiti, and the Ruahines to-day are covered with snow right down to. the base.
