MASTERTON RACING CLUB.
MEETING OF STEWARDS.. The Stewards of the Ma3tertorr Racing Club held their monthly meeting on Saturday afternoon, when? there were present; —Messrs C. A.. Pownsll (in the chair), D.McLachlan, W. Piatt, J. Cress, W. Cooper;. J. lorns, A. J. Welch and R. Buick. Mr C. F. Vallance sent an.apology for absence. The proprietary of the "Referee"" wrote to ask a bonus towards the! production of the "New Zeal.ind. Turf Register." It was decided to purchase a copy of the ". Register." but make nc* further donation. ! The Woodville Jockey Club sent a notification that it had lodged an objection to the Masterton Club applying for February 23rd and 2.4 th for the Autumn Meeting. The Secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference notified the Stewards per miimo that Napier Park Racing Club had lodged an objection to the 17th and 18th March, alternative datss fixed for the Autum i Meeting by the Mastertun Club.
In this connection the Secretary re ported that he had secured March 17th and 18h for the, next Autumn Meeting, but theae dates were not permanent, and an alteration might be necessary for 1911.
Messrs H. C. Swan, D. McNair and W. J. Hope, wrote resigning
membership. The Treasurer reported that the Club bad a dr. balance at the Bank of £33 18s sd.' \ Mr Cooper brought urj the matter of compulsory luncheon tickets. He contended that the privilege was being abused, and moved as a recommendation to the incoming Stewards that they be absolutely abolished. In reply to Mr Iprns the mover said he believed the motion should apply even to Stewards. Mr Pownall suggested that the motion exclude Stewards and officials of the Club. This was agreed to. Secretary stated that in SepI tember last it had baen decided, that luncheon tick a ti be usued to.-' each Steward and official, to outsideClub secretaries, outside owners andtrainers, police officials on duty, andy Stewards ,f Clubs in the Wellington, Metropolitan district on production* of their annual ticket. After discussion it was resided' that this resolution be given effect: to. A motion by Mr Cooper that it be a recommendation to the annual* meeting that no more than £5 per meeting be expended in l.'qjid refreshments, was (arried with the amendment that the amount be limited to £lO.
