Ia a match in tha Showgrounds, yesterday, the Wairarapa A ladies' team defeated tha B team by 4 goals to nil. Mr C. Ca^rley>as>eferee. Messrs A. Balfour, L. Morgan and B. Iveson have selected the following Wairarapa ladies' teams to play a match at Carterton, on Thursday next, after which the final selectiin of the teams to take part in the Napier Tournament will be made: Wairarapa A team Goalkeepei',, Miss L. The teams were as follows:—Wairarapa, black and white—Fuli-backs, J. Fisher and Tunnitliffe; fiveeighth Morgan; halves, A.Dixon, G. Serimgeour, N. Boyd; forwards, A J. Fisher "R. King, W. Fisbe;, Tunnicliffe, A. Pragnell. Wellington, maroon —Goal, A" l.ur; full back?, lucDowell, Mearr.s; halves, Cameron,
Clementson, Brown; forwards, Haase, James, Cooper, Jones and Owens. Flay started 1 with a rush by the Wairarapa forwards, headed by W. Fisher, but hard hitting by the Wellington backs centred play. Fas': rushes and hard hitting then became general, Wairarapa halves saving their side several times. W. Fisher .lead a Wairarapa rush and hit the ball into the net. but no goal was allowed, he being off-s.ide. Several shots at goais were missed by both sides, the shooting being somewhat erratic. A good run and some neat passing between the Wairarapa forwards resulted in Tunnicliffe drawing. first bloodTfor the home team by shootine: a good goal. Wairarapa 1,. Wellington nil. Play then,livened up, and vhe home team were foj<some time on the defensive, Morgan, Boyd, Dixon and Scrimgeour doing yeoman service for their side. A Wairarapa back missed the ball which was subsequently sent out to the wing, whtre James put in a good run. scoring from a difficult angle. Wairarapa 1, Wellington 1. Half-time sounded soon afterwards with the scores unchanged. On resuming piny Wairarapa swept up the field, only to be repulsed by* the sound hitting of the Wellington full-backs. Wellington forwards livened up and ior a time kept the home team busy defendiilg, the halves again playing well. The Wairarapa away and Tunnicliffe piloted the ball into the net. Wairarapa 2, Wellington 1. Play then became very willing, both sides making determined efforts to score, but good back play saved the situation. From a corner-hit W. Fisher shot Wairarapa's third goal. Give and take play ensued untijl. time was called, the scores being unchanged. Mr F. B. Kosson controlled the game in an able manner..
