In consequence of the proclamation of a general strike the sale of alcoholic liquor has been prohibited throughout Sweden.
The standing army has been mobiJ.7 ised, and distributed in the chief strike centres.
The trouble arose out of a lock out by employers on account of their men refusing to accept an arbitrator s awaid. Eighty-three thousand men were affected in the first instance.', eighty thousand more were expected to follow, and a general strike was threatened.
