Mr J .Cj Boddington reports that th 9 rainfall registered at Upper Plain for the 24 hours preceding 9 a.m. on Wednesday was.2 points. Mr H. G. Bates' weather forecast:—Westerly winds, strong to gale, are probable generally with unsettled weather in "all partß and heavy rain in Taranaki and or the West Coast of the South Island. There are indications that i the baromete will rise slowly in the South after a few hours. The conditions are unstable in the far North at preseiit but the change cannot yet be defined, though a fall in pressure is a very liKely contingency.
