CARTERTON NEWS.

(From Our Resident Reporter). Tuesday. At a special meeting of the Borough Council, last evening, it was resolved that by-law No. 13 bs amended so as to prohibit stock bein driven along High Street, and compelling them to turn off at Kent Street and Victoria Street respect ive ly. Turning off at Kent Street the cattle will turn from this street along Wyndham Street, and Lincoln Road, and thence turning into Victoria Street, coming on to tne main road again by the Victoria Hall. The Maunagtarere bridge, giving access to bwamp Road, is stated to have been in existence for twentythree years. Mr E. McKenzie has been appointed by the New Zealand Referees' Association to referee'in the representative football match between Wanganui and Taranaki, to be played on Saturday, at Wanagnui. Mr McKenzile leaves here by the express on Friday.
