Woodward, a hotel proprietor at Ashhurst, left on Thursday afternoon to visit a silver mine at the WwOdville end of thH Manawatu Gorge. He has never been seen or heard of since.

Search parties are out in the bush, and along the river, whicn is flooded by heavy rains The river will be dragged when it goes down. Woodward has a wife and family. The Gorge road is terribly blocked by slips, and thera have been several accidents through attempts to get round there.
