Mr Parker Willis, a well-known politician, of Arkansas, was granted a divorce from his wife, and during the proceedings to recover the custody of a daughter, Ellis, the co-respond-ent, shot Willis dead with a revolver in the open court, despite the judge's endeavours to stop the shooting.
