SOUTHERN SENSATION

THE STRANGE LIGHT AGAIN. AIRSHIP SEEN IN DAYTIME. BY A REPUTEDLY CREDIBLE AUTHORITY. APPARENTLY A MOdT SUCCESSFUL INVENTION. By Telegraph—Press Association OAMARU, Last Night. For several nights mysterious lights have appeared in the neigh bourhood of the Kakanui ranges, and these have been watched by large numbers of people, several using glasses, but all doubts as to the reality were set at rest this morning, when Mr H. D. Baily, a settler at Kauroo Hill, and brother of the Magistrate, saw the airship at 8 o'clock. His attention was drawn to something unusual by the restiveness o± his horses in a yard, and on looking up he saw what he described to a "North Otago Times" reporter as a shape like a boat with a fiat top speeding along at something like thirty miles or more an hour. After watching it for some time he ran in to obtain his glasses, but by thii time the airehip had disappeared over the hills. The airship was also seen by several people at Maheno, and it 9 reality cannot therefore be daubtsd. If this is the same mysterious something that has been seen in South Otago and Southland the inventor has a machine that can not only take long flights, but one that moves at a great rate of speed. The distance between the two points is about 200 miles.

iHE AUCKLAND LIGHTS. AUCKLAND DEALER'S EXPLANATION. AUCKLAND, July 29. A statement by a local dealer in fireworks, that he has recently sold a number of fire balloons, this being a peculiar demand except on festive occasions, may be taken as explaining the mysterious lights aaen overheal at night in Auckland and proably elsewhere.
