FARMERS AND CO-OPERATIVE MEAT FREEZING.

To the Editor. Sir, —In reading the report of the Wellington Farmers' Freezing Company, I notice an account by Mr Buchanan, our member in the House of Representatives, and farmers' friend. May he long represent us in Parliament if he looks after our interests as well as he does the meat company, which no doubt he will do. Look! He being a sound business man, always freezing his own, not letting the buyers pick a few of his tops, there is no doubt about it t';at if the buyers here dipped as d-?cp into the fat sheep as they do in Cantertury," 5 Wellington wouli be above Canterbury in exporting. Why! The farmers in Canterbury would not allowjthe buyers here into their yards twice if they did not get a larger perc?ntage of fats than they do here. ! That is the reason why Canterbury is holding the premier export province. Go any day to a ccuntry sale in Canterbury with yards mt half so large as the Masterton ones, and it is no unusual thing to see half a dozen buyers for freezing works bidding against one another. How imny do we see here? None. Why, there is no competition. That's why we want another < ompany. Mr Buchanan says that the company does not kr.ow the A.B.C. of "the business." He lias put you on your guard. As a friend tike his advice. Get the best manager possible. Build your freezing works, and you will have n ore buyers insthe district and not have so many fat sheep to keep over through the winter. Mr Cooper hit the mark when he said there was not sufficient encouragement to breed the best quailty of stock. A i good many others and I agree with him. In conclusion I shuuld like to see our A. and P. Association doing something in the 1 matter, as we have some of the best m2n of talent on the committee, and then things would bcom as the Masterton A. and P. Association has done!~I am, etc., ENTHUSIAST.
