One 8 Biew members was initiated, and two 1 Sproposed for membership. The Grand Secretary of the Grand Lodge, who is Visiting the various Lodges, attended, and gawe a short address on Lodge matters. Considerate amusement J was 'caused in the Drill Hall, last evening, •when the first skating carnival was •held. A p ize was given for the best -fancy dross, the ladies* prise being ■won by Mrs Morton, Sister; andf the ;gentletraan's by Mr P. Zillwood, Broken Down Swell. Others in francy dress werejjas follows:—Miss Evans, DomSno; Miss Toon, Autumn; Mrs U. Watts, Spanish Dancer; MrG.j Haw'tey Drew, Tea Planter; E. Eddie, of "Te Tarata," Mangahao, states that the two imported Jersey cows, which he recently bought at New Plymouth, are doing exceedingly well m this district', and are standing tire winter weather much better than he anticipated. A mock trial is to be focld at the Pahiatua Debating Society's meeting This evening. Farmers are reminded of the Farmers' Union meeting to-morxow (Saturday) afternoon.
