TENUI FOOTBALL.
(From a Correspondent.) A cup match was played at Carswells on Saturday afternoon between Tenui and Carswell, and resulted in a draw, after at stubbornly fought game, neither side scoring. Both teams played a fast game and the ground was in good order, considering the state uf the weather, which was mostly showery during the progress of the match. lenui had all the best of the game in both of the spells, and several force down's were recorded against ■ Carswells side. For Carswells, Grecnbank, (captain), Hyde, Smith, Wilson and Gordon Lang played a great game, and for Tenui J." Collerton, S. Schofield, J. Cameron, Possum, Stillborn and E. Collerton were the pick. E. Collerton ac full back played the safest game on the ground and J. Collerton was out on his own amongst the forwards. Mr T. Feilding from Masterton made a capable refreee. Upon arrival of the Tenui team, who are in the lead for the "Maunsell Cup" at Tenia, after the matcn they were hospitably entertained by Mr and Mrs Page, who gave a dinner in honour of the team's performances during the season. Mr E. Collerton occupied the chair. After the toast of the "King." Mr Bert Stillborn proposed the toast of the "Rugby Onion," in the absence of the Captain, Mr Schofield, Next came the toast of the "Visitors," and was responded ro by Mesrss Lowe and King. The toast of the "Senior Players," coupled with the name of Mr Jas. Cameron, was next honoured, and replied to by Mr Cameron. The toast of "The Donors of the Cup, Mr Maunsell, and the president, Mr Nevins," was next proposed, and drunk with musical honours. The toast of the "Press," proposed by Mr E. Collerton, and replied to by Mr McGillicuddy, was done full justice to. The function was brought to a close with the toast of tne host and hostess, proposed by Mr W. Collerton, who referred to the very kind treatment the Tenui Club had always received at the hands of Mi and Mrs Page. Not only did Mr and Mrs Pag* hospitably entertain the Tenui Club but also visicing teams on different occasions. He called for three hearty cheers for Mr and Mrs Page, which were heartily given. The singing of "Auld Lang Syne" brought a pleasant gathering to a close.
