Following is the annual report nf the United Friendly Societies' Council:—"ln presenting for your adoption the annual report there is very little to record. A move was made to secure a bed in the South Wairarapa Hospital for the benefit'of our brethren, but the offer of the Trustees was too high, so it has been decided to retain the sports balance, and from it assist any brother who may have to enter the Hospital.During the period under review a rev medical man, Dr. E. W. Smyth, has taken up] his residence in Carterton, and has been introduced to the various Lodges through the Council. It has been decided to continue our affiliation to the Wellington Council, and from private advice to hand, some important business is looming. It has also been decided to procure a trophy for card tournaments. Our credit balance is £5 17s 3d. You will require to elect two for the ensuing period, in place of those who have ably represented the interests of the Lodge in the past, and who are eligible for re-election."
