Miss Madge Rickards, youngest daughter of Mr Harry Kickards was married in England last Wednesday to Mr Frank Harwood, character actor and vocalist, who has visited Australia. The death occurred at Timaru of Mrs Robertson, the second daughter of Mr Thomas Miller, of Mangatera The deceased, who was only married about ihree years ago, her husband being the manager of the Weber dairy factory, was a general favourite, and her untimely death will l, e generally deplored. The interment will take place at the Daunevirke Cemetery. Mrs Harry P. Lyons, wife of the popular manager and agent, died at Melbourne las>t week at the age of sixtv-seven. The deceased lady was once" well-known on the boards. As a young girl she played with the celebrated G. V. Brooke, and later under the management of Win. Hoskina and John L. Hall at the oi l Princess Theatre She was a most genial woman, and was highly esteemed in private life. Mr H. Wright, clerk at tha Carterton railway station, wholasbten appointed chief clerk at the Te Aro Station (goods department) was the recipient of a purse of sovereigns from his Carterton friends on the eve of his departure. The presentation was made by the Mayor, Mr A. Armstrong. Mr W. Toomath, of Cattertcrr. has b-sen appointed instructor in the native college, Waerengahika, Gishorne. Mr Toomath is a borough councillor, member of the Chamber of Commerce, lieutenant in the- Carterton Rifle Corps, and holds other offices.
