RAILWAY THIEVES IN RUSSIA.
A veritable army, splendidly orI ganist'd.j'of railway thieves has been discovered in Russia. Two leaders, who are engineers and 150 subalterns have been arrested and 2u9 more are still ''wanted" by the police. Their own special "intelligence department" ii formed them when and whither consignments of valuable goods were being carried. Then their agents speedily appropriated the merchandise which was duly taken to one of the gnormous repositories belonging to the band. Among the influential agents were elegantly dressed females. The thieves had a special telegraphic code, and employed"n number of motor bicycles. Inuring three years' operations these enlcrptising people spirited away goods valued at twenty-five million roubles (£2,500,000) For years complaints have been made by the public that, instead of various consignments of value, they received earth, logs, and stones.
