AN AERONAUT'S ADVENTURE.
ATTEMPT TO CROSS ENGLISH CHANNEL. MACHINE FALLS INTO THE SEA. f Received July 20. 9 am. PARIS, July 19. After waiting for suitable weather at Calais for a week, Mr Latham started to-day to cross the English Channel in his aeroplane. The machine rose to a great height, then the motor slowly stopped and descended, alter going ten miles from the coast. A French torpedo boat destroyer found Mr Latham sitting on the floating aeroplane calmly smoking a cigarette. Mr Latham and his aeroplane were put on board the vessel and taken back to Calais.
