THE HORSHAM TRAGEDY.
HAY'S CONFESSION. REVOLTING DETALIS. Received July 19, 10.15 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 19. In connection with the murder of a fruiterer named Cox, at Horsham, Hay, who, together with Mrs Cox, was arrested and charged with having committed the deed, told the police that he hacl- quarrelled with Cox, who accused him of always being drunk; when he came home. He struck Cox several timss with a toy gun, and then grasped his throat and held it for fifteen minutes, ti 11 Cox was dead. Afterwards he washed the dead man's face. Mrs Cox admitted that Cox hilled her husband. , The medical evidence showed that Cox had been strangled, death being accelerated by the weak state of his heart.
The police also overheard an incriminating conversation between the accused while they were occupying adjacent cells.
