THE PROPOSED LOAN.
To-morrow the ratepayers of Masterton will have the opportunity of sanctioning or rejecting the proposal of the Borough Council to raise a loan of £12,000 for the construction and improvement of che principal thoroughfares in the town. Little interest, if any, i 3 being displayed in the matter, and this is regrettable, We should have liked the majority in the Council supporting the loan proposal to have made some effort to see it carried. Had a committee been formed and the matter "worked up" a little success would probably have rewarded the energy displayed. We believe that thp money could be well spent, and, therefore, should like to see the proposal carried, but the lack of interest, on the part of the general public, and the absence of enthusiasm on the part of the Councillors supporting the loan are disappointing features of the whole proceedings.
