PAHIATUA NEWS.

(From Our Resident Reporter). Wednesday. T( -morrow, 15th inst., is the payday of the suppliers to the Ballance Co-operative Dairy Company, when about £BOO will b3 paid out for milk supplied during the month of June. The Hukanui creamery has closed down for the winter, and will re-operi in about five weeks' time. The general manager, Mr H. Billington, is on a holiday trip to Wellington, and later will relieve Mr Ogden at the Hamua Creamery. The latter creamery for the first time since its establishment, will run all through the winter. Mr Alex. Hesse, purposes delivering a lecture on the Land question at Pongaroa on Friday evening. The half-yearly installation of officers oE Court Pahiatua, A.O.F. took place last evening, the retiring C.R., Bri. Yule, assisted by P.C.R. Bro. Pdarcey, being the installing officers. The following members were installed to the various officesC.R., Bro. Bain; S.C.R., Bro. Bayhss; S.W., Bro. Tester; J.W., Bro. Last; 5.8., Bro. Stratford; J. 8., Bro. Norrell; Treasurer, Bro. H. I'earcey; Auditor, Bro. Darlev: Secretary, 80. G. Gelderd. One inemli r was initiated and two were proposed for membership. The balance sheet a'lowed the Lodge to be in a very sound financial positioned the membership to be about 170. After the Lodge business was freshments were handed round, and a social evening spent. The body of the unfortunte man, Mr J. Wallis, who was killed at Rakanui on Monday, in a brake accident, was brought to Pahiatua, and will be sent by rail to Eketahuna, where the funeral will take place. Mr Wallis was a prominent footballer, and was picked to play fullback in the Puketoi-Bush match, which was to have been played on Saturday next, but owing tc the above unfortunate circumstance has bean postponed. At a meeting of the Pahiataa Racing Club held yesterday, it was decided to offer a part of the ground and racecourse as asked for by the Pahiatua-Akitio A. and P. Association to the Association for two years at £5 per year.
