WEDDINGS.
TE TAU-TE ATUA. A wedding, in which considerable local interest was taken, was celebrated in St. Matthew's Church, Masterton. yesterday, the contracting parties being Miss Te Haumihiata Te Atua, daughter of Mr Henare Te Atua, of Porangahau, and Mr Wiremu Kingi Te Tau, eldest son of Mr Tai Te Tau, of Lansdowne, Maaterton. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked very becoming in a gown of white chiffon taffeta with lace and silver trimmings. She wore the orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a beautiful shower bouquet. The bride was attended by Misses Waimaramn, D. Te Tau, Q. Te Tau, and Rosie Tutaki, as bridesmaids, and Masters Edward Te Tau and Willie Rautu as pages. Mr J. Te Atua, brother of the bride, was best man, and Mr William Thompson groomsman. Misses Waimarama and D. Te Tau, bridesmaids, were attired in pale green silk taffeta, trimmed with cream silk lace, and wore hats to match, and carried shower bouquets. Misses Q. Te Tau and R. Tutaki wore pink silk taffeta gowns and j carried crooks and streamers, and the pages. Masters E. Te Tau and W. Hautu, wore Lord Fauntleroy suits of white silk corduroy. Mrs Te Tau, mother of the bridegroom, wore a handsome black silk taffeta dress with a pink hat to.match, and Miss K* Hau, cousin of the bride, blue silk taffeta with a large black hat. The bridegroom's present to the bride was a diamond and sapphire ring, to the bridesmaids gold and greenstone brooches, to the bestman and groomsman gold and greenstone pendants, and-'to the pages, greenstone lucky bean pins. A reception was held in the meeting house at Te Ore Ore, a large number of guests sitting down to a sumptuous repast. A dance was also held in the meeting house, las night. The large number of costly presents received by the youngt couple testified to their popularity. The Revs. A. 0. Williams, of Gisburne, and H. Watson, of Masterton, were the officiating clergymen. The honeymoon will be spent inWellington, after which Mr and Mrs Te Tau will leave for their future home at Porangahau. COLW AY—SMITH. An interesting wedding L was sol emnised at Masterton yesterday, when Mr James Colway, only son of the late Mr G. Colway, of Manaia, was married to Miss Francis Agnes j Smith, fourth daughter of Mr John Smith, a popular old settler, who j resides at Kuripuni. The wedding took place at the residence of the bride's father. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a charming empire gown of white crystalline, with silk chiffon trimmings, with the customary veil and orange blossom. She also wor3 a handsome I gold muff chain, the gift of the bridegroomC The bridegroom was attended by Mr E. C. Jack, of Wellington, formerly a resident of Masterton. The bridesmaids were Miss Emily Burton and the Misses Ivy and Mary McKenzie, all of whom wore empire gowns, the colours of which, together with the bouquets they carried, were so arranged as to produce a rainbow effect. Miss Burton wore pale blua chiffon taffeta, Miss Ivy McKenzie cream crystalline, and Miss Mary McKenzie pale pink chiffon taffeta. The bridegroom's gift to the former was a gold chain with cross i pendant, and to the latter gold brooches of novel design. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. A. ! | T. Thompson.
