(From Oar Resident Reporter). Tuesday. The Tararua Cheese Factory, at Ballance, is still running every third day. Since the factory was removed from the top of the range to its present position some nine months ago, over seventy tons of cheese have been manufactured and good market rates have been received for the output. Although in th"ere"were only fourteen suppliers over one thousand gallons of milk was received daily for a short period. The dairy farmers around the Balance district have had a very prosperous season, and at present report that their stock is in splendid condition to stand the winter and early spring months. At the Borough Council meeting, last week, Cr Hewat spoku in reference to the deplorable state of the Recreation Ground, and thought that something should Be done to put the grounds in order. From a report laid on the table it was shown that the ground and effected had cosfun to'the "present £769 lis 4d. Of this amount £251 12s 6d had been paid for the ground, while the laying out of the cycle track, which at the present time is just a orrass track, cost £304. On the ground in the centre where football and cricket is played rushes are growing which have to be mowed off, before a football match is played. The Amusement Club have about £2O in hand from the last sports meeting they held, but owing to the bad state of the track and ground, they did not hold a meeting this year. Cr Hewat considered the ground could be put in order for about £7O. STOCK MARKET. Thfe New Zealand Loan an 3 Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report as follows on their fortnightly sale in the Pahiatua yards yesterday:-There was a fair entry of sheep, and a large entry of cattle. Prices all round showed an upward tendency, and there was a representative gathering of buyers. Prices were as follows:--Sheep. Wethers, 12s 6d, 12s 8d,12s 9d; aged ewes in lamb, 8s 6d, 11a 7d, 12s 4d; hoggets, 9s 4d. Cattle.—Fat heifers, £3 16s; fat bullocks,'£s 3s 6d; yearlings, £1 16s; 2 and 3 year steers, £3 10s; 3 year hiefers, £4 4s; bulls, £2 10s to £2 6d; cows and calves, £3; empty heifers, £2 12s; empty cows, £2 8s; heifers in calf, £3 10ato£4 os6d; dairy cows,£3 7s fid, £3 10s, £3 15a, £4, £4 4s. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd. report on their P.F.A. sale yes.tardayas followsg:—We submitted a fair yarding of sheep and a good yarding of cattle to,a large attendance. Prices showed au advance on classes of stock, and we have to report practically a total clearance.
