A bomb was thrown by the Mafia secret society into the residence of Mr Whitaker, in Palermo, where King Edward, Queen Alexandra, and the Dowager Empress of Russia were ately entertained during their yachting cruise in the Mediterranean. The bomb fortunately exploded without doing any damage. Mr Whitaker had refused to pay blackmail to the Mafia.
