CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Kesident Reporter). Monday. The news of the death of Mr W. P. James, S.M., was received here with profound regret, and as a mark of respect, the local Court has adjourned until July 20th. The case of A. W. Jones v. Borough Council will in consequence not come on for hearing to-morrow. The Catholic congregation here purpose holding a baazar in February of next year, to raise funds to liquidate the debt on the church. Any surplus will be devoted to a fund that is to be established with a view of building a convent at some future date. Mr M. Johnson, the popular secretary of the Parkvale Hall Committee, has been presented with a handsome watch, suitably inscribed, from those interested, as a token of appreciation. The mildness of the season here is evidenced by wattle tree 3 being already in bloom.
