SIR W. LYME AND THE FUSION

Sir William Lyne imparted life to the censure debate by making bitter personal attacks on the members of the Cabinet over the fusion. Sir William concluded by demanding an increased duty on timber. He claimed that the industry was being ruined. ALLEGED FAILURE OF THE NEW ZEALAND TAX. • Received July 9, 9.55 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 0. In the course of the tensure debate some of the speakers claimed that the progressive land tax in New Zealand had failed in its objects of breaking up large estates and keeping land values down. They predicted a similar failure here. The debate has been adjourned till Tuesday. Received July 10, 1 a.m. MELBOURNE, July 9. The censure debate has been adjourned till Tuesday next.
