TRUST LANDS TRUST.
MONTHLY MEETING. I The ordinary meeting of the Masterton Trust Lands Trust was held last evening, there being presentMessrs C. E. Daniell (chairman), R. Krahagen, W. H. Jackson, E. G. Eton. T. Michell, Ti Wagg and H C. L. Robinson. Apologies were received from Messrs D. Caselberg and O. N. Pragnell. The Treasurer reported a credit balance at the Bank of £6Bl 12h Bd, Accounts amounting to £133 18s 2d were passed for payment. A letter was received from the Captain of the Mounted Rifles applying for an increase in their grant.— The application was held over till next meeting. Messrs Varnham and Rose and C. G. Monro, architects, jointly wrote complaining of the method adopted in the selection of the plans for the proposed buildings on the Queen , street site. It was decided to reply to the letter s'ating that the Trustees acted in fairness to all concerned, and the contents of the letter were uncalled for. Messrs Cole and Westerman wrote enquiring as to the dimensions, and rent of new »hops to be erscte' c.. the site of the Trust buiUing: r: cently destroyed by fire.—The matter was referred to the Building Committee. Thd Chairman stated that after consultation With the Town Clerk, and visiting the ToWn Hall, he had been unable to yet formtilafe a scheme for improving the fiie escapes at the Hall. He alsw reported that the plans for the neW buildings in Queen street were not yet quite ready. An application from the Salvation Army for a grant towards the Band Fund was declined.
