CARSWELLS v. HOMEWOOD. (Special to the Wairarapa Age.) A must enjoyable trip to the cost was made by the Carswells football team on Saturday last on the occasion of their match with Homewood for the Maunsell Cup. In the evening the visitors were entertained at tea and a dance, during which hakas and songs were rendered by the Maoris. The Carswells captain won the toss and decided to pay with the wind. At the start the visiting team worked play to the Homewood line, and foxsome time the latter were hotly pressed. Play then centered for a while. Laing, from a good forward rush gathered up the leather in good style and passed to Adams, who in turn transferred to Smith, who handed it to Hyde, the latter scoring, after one of the best passing rushes seen here this season. Wilson's kick at goal wias successful. The Carswells forwards took play quickly down the field and kept Homewood on the defence for the rest of the spell. The spell ended with the scores; Carswells 5, Homewood 0 In the second ! spell Homewood, with the wind in their favour, looked dangerous, but the sound defence of (Jarswells saved the situation on more than one occasion.
