"DAVID, THE SHEPHERD BOY."
TO-NIGHT. It is anticipated that there will be a large attendance at the Methodist Church, this evening, when the sacred cantata "David, the Shepherd Boy," will be repeated by the Methodist Choir, assisted by members from other local choirs. The cantata is in aid of the new pipe organ for the Church. There are 65 performers taking part in the t cantata, including an orchestra of ten instruments. Mr H. Inns will conduct the singing, and Miss Winnie Jones will preside at the piano, and Miss Ethel Daniell at the organ. The cantata was declared to'be a pronounced success when it was produced in the Church some four weeks ago. It is possible that it will be even better rendered to-night, and a real treat should be in store for lovers of fine sacred music. A very successful rehearsal was held in the Church last evening. The following are the principals with their parts: —Abigail, sopano, Miss V. Edwards; Abigail's two attendants, soprano and contralto, Miss B. Joy and Miss Judd; Michal, contralto, Miss F. Elkins; David, tenor, Mr W. S. Jagu; Jonathan, tenor, Mr J. Gray : Jesse, baritone, Mr C. Moorshead; Samuel, bass, Mr T. Moor; Saul, bass, Mr S. H. Ralph; Elder (who crowns David), bass, Mr Moor; Abner and Messenger, tenor, Mr Niven; Three Men of War, Mr Niven, Mr Sleeman Und Mr Morris. No charge is to be made for admission, but a collection will be made to defray expense?. t
