WELLINGTON LAND BOARD.
A meeting of the Wellington Land Board was held on Thursday and Friday last, there being present:— Messrs James Mackenzie, Commissioner of Crown Lands (in the chair), A. • Reese, C. J. Canton, and H. T. Ellingham. , \ TITLES APPROVED. The following titles were approved on the usual conditions:—Section 2, Rauhine (1,449 acres), C. A. Wheeler; section 21, block 2, Mt. Cerberus (400 acres), J. C, Bishop. Tthe following transfers were approved on the usual conditions, and subject to the ranger's report being satisfactory:—Section 113, block 10, Makuri Township, E. Clifford to A. J. Jack; section 7, block 4, Mangahao, T. R. Husband to A. R. Still; section 2, block 12, Haungarua (Mahupuku Settlement), Public Trustee in the estate of J. Wilson (deceased) to B B. Bunny; sections 18, 19,' 20, 23, 24, 34, .block 10, Kaitawa, A. Cooper to T, H. Coltmah (subject to repayment of amount ad* vanced for grass seed); sections 2 and 3, block 18, Ruahine, and part 6, block 16, Hautapu, F. and F. \ Bielski to F. J. Green (provided residential and improvement conditions have been complied with); section 3, block 14, Hautapu, F. M. Tansey to H. J. Death (provided transferee is eligible; section 21, block 1, Maneaone, A. Redpath to Lillian E. Pryeen (provided the transferee is eligible); sections 6 and 3a, block 2, Mount Cerberus, T. J. McQuinn to H. J. Holmes; section 9, block 5, Huangarua (Tawaha Settlement), Mrs Ann Cottrill to W. F. Brazendale; section 61, block" 8, Tararua, Nireaha Village Settlement, W. MacDonaid -to M; Rundell (provided the Commissioner is satisfied* all conditions are complied with). Mr Harold Bennett applied to transfer his interest in setion 56, block 2, Kaiwhatu, and 14, Rewa (1,424 acres), to his partner and Mr Henry Bennett. The Commissioner reported that these , two brothers were residing oh their father's property, near by with the consent of the board, and were occupying and managing this holding of 9"00 acres, freehold,, their father being toD old to take any active part in the management of the property; but other than this they had no interest in the land.—lt was resolved, therefore, to approve of Mr Henry Bennett's i declaration as altered by him in terms of section 82 (c) of the Land Act, 1908, and also to approve of the transfer. «
Permission to sub-let was granted in the following. case.—Part of section 11 of 8, block 14, Mangahao, Mackenzie Village Settlement, James Croft to Peter LawsDn, for five-years at'an annual rental of £l2:
Mr J. Daysh attended and application to be exempted from residence on section 7b, block 16, Wairarapa (Dyer Settlement), for twelve months.-—The board granted the application. j It was resolved to pay £l6 16s received for improvements on sections 16 and 29, blocks 9 and 15, Huangarua, Tawaha Settlement, t;i the public acr.bunt in part payment of arrears on rental and co3t of taking possession. ' "Mr F. J. Read, lessee of section 22, block 14, Wairarapa, , Dyer Settlement, 12 applied for twelve months' exemption from residence, as, owing to having been burnt *>ut,- the cost of rebuilding had embarrassed him financially and he proposed to put in a family on shares, and hoped that in twelve months' time tie would have recovered his position sufficieontly to enable him to N resume residence and erect another cottage for the other family to live in.—The application was granted. With reference to tb.3 complaints that the residental eondkipns by Mr A. Sharp, lesee of section 7, block 11, Huangarua Tablelands Settlement (522 acres 2 roods), a report was recieved from the Crown Lands Ranger, and it was resolved to grant him six months' time in which to build and reside.
Mr J, D. Anderson, lessee ot sections 20 Bnd 3, blocks, 9 and 10, Ruahine, wrote asking the board to forfeit his interest in the samo as he found it impossible to carry on the lease. The area is 2,755 acres of second-class land, selected on March 26th last, the annual rental being £lso.—lt was resolved to postpone the question until next meeting. The board accepted the surrender by the chairman of the Langdale Domain Board of the lease of sections 11, 12, and 15, Langdale Sffburbs, in order that the sections might be added to the Langdale Domain. ■<■
The Mauriceville County .Council submitted proposals for the expenditure of thirds (£4 6s 3d) accrued on sections in the Tararua Survey District. —fllie ranger's report being" favourable, the board approved the proposals. The board also approved proposals submitted by the Petone Borough Council (£94 Is 5d.) With reference to Mr C. Blake's application to be alowed to select an area of Crown land for a better fencing line, adjoining his present lease-in-perpetuity on section 3, block 10, Miki Miki, the ranger recommended-, that a small strip ;be alloted to him without competition at 20s per acre, subject to Mr Blake paying cost of survey.
