A FATAL FIRE.

THREE LIVES LOST. I A MAN BADLY BURNED. By Telegraph—Press Association. BLENHEIM, July 3. A.fire, attended by fatal results, occurred a few minutes after midnight. The scene of the outbreak.was a five-roomed house in Whitney street, owned by Mrs Joseph Taylor, sen., and occupied by Josepn Taytor. A servant girl named Berry first discovered thnt the house was on fire, bing awakened by pictures falling down in her bedroom, and finding the bedclothes in flames. She got lout the two'children who were sleeping with her, and then attempted to raturn for Mrs Taylor, and the othar twa, but wa3 driven back by the flames.

A pas3er-by rushed in and rescued the youngest child, but it was so badly burnt that it died in the hospital this morning. Mr Taylor arrived home to find the fire bursting out everywhere. He smashed awindow, and endeavoured to drag his wife throuerh, but her cothing gave way, an:, the flames drove him back. Mrs Taylor's body and that of her son Joseph, aged about 10, were found in the debris, after the flames ;had subsided. Th 9 Fire Brigade were preventedby lack of water from rendering any assistance. Taylor was badly cut and burned, and is now in the hospital. It is feared he may lose his reason. The insurances are not at present i obtainable. V.
