MAURICEVILLE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The monthly meeting of the Mauriceville County Councli was held on Saturday, 26 th June. There were present—Crs. F. W. H. Kumrner (chairman), C. Forsberg, J. E. Perry, H. J. Dagg, C. Churchill, Jackson, and 0. Isakson. A letter was received from the Mackenzie County Council «.esiring the Council's co-operation endeavouring to get the Land Acn amended, so that "fourths" of the rents of pastoral runs may be expended in con structing and maintaining the roads of access. It was decided that the Council support the proposed amendment. Mr 0. A. Weston, in reply to a an inquiry, wrote stating that the metal pit, near the bridge on Mount Murro road east, is situated within the recently surveyed road line, and a letter and tracing received from the Commissioner of Crown Lands con. firms this. The Masterton County Clerk wrote explaining the reason for abandoning the appeal against contributing to the maintenance of the Victoria Home. The Secretary to the Charitable Aid Board wrote endorsing the Council's action in dealing with charitable aid cases in the oistrict. Tfie Clerk was instructed to consult the County solicitor re amending bylaws and other matters. Cr. J. C. Perry gave notice to move at the next meeting that a general rate of $d in the £ be struck for the current year. The Chairman will represent the Council at the Conference of delegates from local bodies, to be held in Masterton, to discuss the question of constituting the Wairarapa separate Charitable Aid District. Accounts amounting to £l9O 13s 4d, were passed for payment.
