CARTERTON NEWS.
(From Our Kesident Reporter). Friday. Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.P., has donated three guineas to the funds of the Wairarapa Rugby Union. The first prize in the South Wairarapa Poultry Association's art union was won by Miss M. Skelley, who held ticket number 179; the second prize, No. 363, fell to Mr S. Mansfield; the third prize, No. 389, to Mrs Wakelin; the fourth, No. 281, to Mr T. N. Major; the number reeeivng the fifth prize'was 782. The guessing competition in connection with the collective weight of a rooster, bantam and turkey, was won by Mr W. Fisher, who guessed 233'lbs, the correct weight being 23Jlbs. Mr W. B. Allen was second with 241bs. The card tournament between the local Totara Lodge of Druids, and Masterton Stonehenge Lodge, played last evening, resulted in favour of the home Lodge who won by 51 to 36. At the close of the tournament the rest of the evening was spent in harmony. Several sales of poultry were effected at the South Wairarapa Poulhy Show, the purchasers being Messrs H. M. Wilson, E. Eagle, jnr., J. M. Nicholls, W .Tucker, W. Moore and G. Sievers.
