THE UNEMPLOYED.
By Telegraph—Press Association. DUNEDIN, July 1. ! The Minister of Labour as a result of an interview with Mr Mac Andrew, Engineer of Railways,'and Mr Le Cren, head of the Labour Department, to-day, gave instructions for 25 men to be selected for employment on the MoagieJ duplication works. As tne result of the combined efforts of the Department and the local societies the unemployed in Dunedin, which stood at 279 recently, has been reduced to 70.
It is anticipated that the trains on? the duplicating line will be run to Green Island, beginning next year* and to Mosgiel by Christmas, 1910.
