ILLEGAL EXPENDITURE.
PUBLIC MONEY SPENT. WITHOUT AUTHORITY. Received July 1, 10.55 am. MELBOURNE, July 1. The report of the Committee on Public Accounts, in regard to the alleged illegal expenditure of public moneys without the sanction of Parliament, has been presented to the Victorian Assembly. The committee found that Sir Thomas Bent, in giving certain instructions, acted unconstitutionally and illegally. - The sum of £175,000 was so expended.
