METHODIST CHURCH.
ANNUAL MEETING.
The fifty-third annual meeting of the Maaterton Methodist Church will be held in the Town Hall this evening, at 8 o'clock. The meeting is to take the form of a conversazione, at which brief reports of the year's operations and the balance sheet will be presented., Ihe chief speaker of the evening will be the Chinese Consul for New Zeaalnd, the Hon. Mr Yung Liang Hwang. Mr Hwang is a fluent speaker of English, having been educated in one of the American Universities. Mr Hwant? pricks himself on his connection with ths Methodist Church, an.id has kindly consented to deliver an interesting address, on Ancient China. brief speeches will also be delivered by thu Rev. C. E. Porter, and other Ministers. A special programme 01 instrumental and vocal music has been arranged as follows: Choir, "Gloria," from Moazrt's 12th Mass, and a glee "See Our Oars"; pianoforte duet, Misses Daniell; quartet te Mrs A. H. Daniell, Miss A. Judd, Messrs G. Niven and S. H. Ralph; solos, Mrs A. H. Daniell, Miss Prentice, and\Mr T. Manneil; recitations, Miss L. Arnold and Mr E. R. Wilson. The pianist will be Mr Morshed.
, The seating accommodation in the Hall is to be so arranged as to take off the stiffness and make the meet-
ing more comfortable. Refreshments will be dispensed by the ladies of the congregation. The choir held a very successful rehearsal in the Town Hall last evening. '■___ ■
